Ports
Port operators need timely and accurate information about vessel events for port calls to run smoothly. Unfortunately, current methods for generating and communicating operational data are antiquated, manual, unaligned and unpredictable. As a result, inaccurate data is often exchanged inconsistently, unclearly, or not at all, making port call optimization impossible. This leads to unexpected changes in the arrival and departure times of vessels, which disrupts planning for vessel operations and related activities such as nautical services. DCSA standards make port operations more predictable by ensuring every piece of data about events is aligned, accessible and actionable by every stakeholder, and that data is shared according to a clear, consistent and unambiguous process. With this level of transparency in place, it is possible to apply just-in-time (JIT) principles to port call events. Once established, JIT planned operations will reduce congestion, delays, waiting time and idle time. This will improve the customer experience and ultimately make port calls more sustainable by eliminating unnecessary fuel consumption and lowering emissions.

Banks
Our standards will provide several key benefits for you as a bank. Increased efficiency and accuracy Reduction of delays and errors associated with manual data entry and processing, illegible handwriting and lost documents. Digital files enable sharing with required operational support functions simultaneously. Fraud prevention Enhance the security of electronic documents with digital signatures, encryption technologies and authentication mechanisms to ensure the information is tamper-proof, which will in turn lead to reduce the risk of double financing. Increased business flexibility The licence with your current solution providers is sufficient. Interoperable data exchange interfaces enable you to cost-effectively work and contribute to adoption, without the need for onboarding to additional solution providers. Reduce risk Reduce dependency on physical documents that may be susceptible to loss, damage or fraud during transit. Increased sustainability Help the industry go paperless with 100% adoption of fully digital documentation. Reduce expenses related to printing, handling, storage, and transportation of physical documents.

IoT Commercial Events
DCSA and its member carriers have published IoT events standards which aim to enhance end-to-end cargo visibility for the global container shipping industry. These standards are designed to enable industry-wide standardised data sharing related to tracking and tracing of containers fitted with IoT devices (including “smart containers”). This sets the foundation for an interoperable framework of cargo visibility solutions.
